Train Information

Roquetas doesn’t have a railway station so to travel anywhere by train, you have to go to Almería, perhaps by bus. From Almería you can get to Granada and Madrid. It might not be the fastest but it is probably the cheapest.

However, at the moment they’re building a high speed rail link into Almería so the station is not working. You have to go to Almería station and they put you on a bus to the other side of Almería, where you get the train. You can read about it here.

One of the  easiest ways to get around is with the bus. The bus company is ALSA. There is one, the M330, which goes all the way through Roquetas, Aguadulce and on to Almeria. The only downside is that it mostly only runs once an hour. Click the link below to see a timetable. However, beware, in Roquetas at least the times are approximate. It’s quite common for the bus to be over 10 minutes early or late.

Huércal-Viator station becomes a passenger transfer point from 5 March 2024 for trains to and from Almería.

From 5 March 2024, Huércal-Viator station will be a passenger transfer point for all trains to and from Almería. Since this date and due to the cut of the railway access to Almería station, passengers of all trains arriving/departing from the city make the journey AlmeríaHuércal/Viator by bus, to start the train journey from Huércal station.

From Tuesday 5 March 2024, the eight daily Media Distancia Granada-Almería trains, four in each direction, and the two Intercity Madrid-Almería trains, one in each direction, will arrive and depart from Huércal-Viator station, and the service between the latter and Almería city will be guaranteed by bus.

The measure will be maintained until the completion of the works for the integration of the railway in Almería, which will bring the high-speed train to the city, will allow the railway circulation in the access to the capital of Almería in 2026.

Customers who need to buy or change tickets, as well as to ask for any service information, must go to Almería station as they have been doing until now. In a later phase of the integration work, it is planned that these passenger services and ticket sales will be moved to the historic station building.

Huércal-Viator has been fitted out with new passenger vestibule modules, toilets and technical equipment, as well as its complementary areas and was already used in the Alternative Transport Plan (PAT) during the works of the first phase of integration.

Modification of departures from Almería

As of Tuesday 5 March 2024, the usual timetables will be modified, especially those departing from Almería, to include the route by road from the intermodal station and the Huércal station. Departure times from Granada and Madrid will remain the same as at present.
